ABOUT HEAVY WEIGHT DRILL PIPE

Heavy Weight Drill Pipe (HWDP) is a critical component in the oil and gas industry, specifically designed to meet the demands of modern oil and gas drilling operations. HWDP products are manufactured using high-strength steel, offering exceptional wear resistance and corrosion resistance, enabling reliable performance under extreme conditions. They play a crucial role in the drilling string, primarily used to increase drill bit downforce and stability, thereby enhancing drilling efficiency. The unique design of HWDP includes thicker walls and a heavier structure. This additional weight helps enhance the drill bit's drilling capability, particularly in soft soil or unstable formations, reducing the risk of drill bit vibration and twisting, and ensuring smoother drilling operations. Each HWDP is subject to rigorous quality testing and meets API standards.

Transition Zone

HWDP acts as a transition member between the stiff drill collars and the more flexible drill pipe, helping to reduce stress concentration and fatigue failures in the drill string. 

Weight on Bit (WOB) and Stiffness

The increased weight and stiffness of HWDP can be used to provide more weight on the drill bit, which is crucial for efficient drilling, especially in hard or abrasive formations. 

Directional and Horizontal Drilling

HWDP is particularly useful in directional and horizontal drilling where maintaining the desired wellbore trajectory and minimizing deviation are critical. The flexibility of HWDP can help navigate bends and curves in the wellbore, while its stiffness helps control the drilling direction. 

Deep Drilling

In deep drilling operations, the weight of the drill string can become a limiting factor. HWDP can help add weight to the drill string, allowing it to reach deeper depths and improve drilling efficiency. 

Preventing Buckling and Sticking

The thicker wall of HWDP helps prevent buckling, especially in the transition zone, and can also reduce the risk of differential sticking, where the drill string gets stuck due to pressure differences. 

Improved Hole Cleaning

The increased stiffness of HWDP can also contribute to better hole cleaning by improving the flow of drilling fluids, which helps remove cuttings and debris from the wellbore. 

Reducing Fatigue Failures

By acting as a buffer between the drill collars and drill pipe, HWDP helps reduce the stress and fatigue experienced by the drill string, leading to longer component life.

PRODUCTION AND PROCESSES

We have two pipe product manufacturing bases in Yantai, Shandong Province. One of them, the General Pipe Manufacturing Base, has a history of nearly 70 years and is equipped with five hot-rolling production lines and one cold-drawing production line, with an annual production capacity of up to 500,000 tons. Leveraging our mature production processes and economies of scale, our product range encompasses over 1,000 specifications of pipe products, fully compliant with international standards such as API 5L, ASTM A106, and ASTM A333. Our high-standard pipeline product production base has a stable production capacity of 800,000 tons, primarily producing high-grade steel products such as API 5L X100 PSL2, API 5CT Super 13Cr, and ASTM A335 P91. Our product specifications cover a wide range, with a maximum outer diameter of 20 inches, a wall thickness of up to 70 millimeters, and a single-piece length of up to 36 meters, capable of meeting the demands of steel pipes in various harsh operating conditions.
